Dr. Oz Show introduces the nation to relaxation drinks
Dr. Oz recently learned what Suntheanine consumers have already discovered: the amino acid L-theanine may be one of the best ways to help you unwind. The Dr. Oz Show segment on relaxation drinks investigated whether it is really possible to find "calm in a can." The answer was absolutely!
Relaxation drinks, such as those containing Suntheanine – including the newly reformulated Just Chill mentioned by Dr. Oz – are what he calls "the anti-energy drinks." They may be better alternatives to that glass of wine when you feel stressed and need to focus.
Dr. Oz noted that most relaxation drinks contain L-theanine, which helps produce brain wave patterns to encourage relaxation. Other ingredients associated with relaxation that are often blended into these drinks include:
-
Valerian, known to reduce nervousness and anxiety
-
Gaba, a neuro transmitter that reduces anxiety
-
5-HTP, an amino acid that pumps up the production of "feel-good" serotonin
-
Melatonin, which helps induce a state of relaxation
When you are stressed, your breathing and heart rate increases and your blood pressure rises. Dr. Oz's on-air relaxation lab demonstrated that relaxation drinks helped to lower all of these measures. Dr. Oz explained that when you're stressed or nervous, your mind may be racing making it difficult to focus. Relaxation drinks help you to calm down. Your brain processes messages more carefully so that you work smarter but not necessarily harder.
Suntheanine is a patented pure form of L-theanine. Human clinical trials have shown Suntheanine to promote an alert state of relaxation without drowsiness. In addition to the benefits outlined by Dr. Oz, additional human clinical research suggests that Suntheanine may have application in improving the quality of sleep, diminishing normal symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), improving learning performance, heightening mental acuity, promoting concentration, reducing negative side effects of caffeine and supporting the immune system.
Also look for Suntheanine in some energy drinks because it helps to minimize the jitters, while also improving focus and concentration. And it is also available in a number of supplements.

Too anxious to focus on your daily activities? Studies show Suntheanine may help.
